Voodoo has always been a source of fascination with people and especially now with so many who want to learn voodoo spells. Due to popular media, people have always been misinformed about what voodoo is, assuming it is a cult when it is essentially a religion, just like Christianity or the Jedi.
In this article I will discuss Voodoo's fact of media fiction.
1. Hollywood.
Blame it on Bela Lugosi, her 1944 movie: 'The Voodoo Man'. It is predictable at best, with voodoo dolls and black magic. There is good and bad in all things, Voodoo also has white magic too! And, it's so common, it's just not discussed because it's not noticeable enough.
2. Hollywood again!
Hollywood would love to let us know that there is only one type of voodoo that can be found anywhere in the world, but did you know that there is more than one type of voodoo? In fact, you will find Voodoo in Louisiana, Haiti (Vodou) and West Africa (Vodun).
The latter is the only type of voodoo that people probably recognize, although it has the wrong impression Haitian voodoo.
3. Voodoo Black Magic.
It is true that most people are more interested in negative "things" rather than motivated by positive motives. And the same is true for the media, whether in print or film. Black magic is what draws people to voodoo. Remember, there is also white magic.
Take, for example, when a child is feeding some ducks, very few bother to notice, yet people definitely do notice when a major car accident occurs and they all stop.
The point: it seems that evil is more interesting than good.
